The tragedy of Sept. 11, 2001 and the terrorist attack, the IMO organized a Diplomatic
Conference on Maritime Security 10 years ago. At the meeting, it was decided to enhance the
security of vessels and port facilities. Each ship using IMO number is registered, with the
time we have a list of ships classified by this unique number called IMO number.
